I hear similar sentiments so often when people around me are talking about feeling burnt out or just tired of their job for any number of reasons. Everyone is so quick to suggest that they pull back, don't invest so much, and find other sources of joy outside of work. But my favorite advice to give is to quit the job, leave the relationship, etc. because yes, we can work twice as hard to balance our scales so that joy outweighs the dread we feel. Or, we can simply let go of the source of our dread. I think it's much easier to balance out our lives that way, working towards fulfillment rather than constantly working to outrun resentment.

I think what you did was wise, admirable, and will inspire many people. Congratulations on living your life, not just surviving.
